The State Development Program (SDP), formerly branded as the National Intensive Training Program (NITP), is the first step on the way to representing Victoria or taking your game all the way to Australian junior representative teams. SDP athletes work under the Basketball Victoria HP curriculum as athletes will work with identified coaches under the direction of the BV High Performance Coaches in regional satellite hubs and at regular combined training camps.

Australian Junior Championships provide young basketballers with the opportunity to play in an elite tournament representing their state on the national stage. Australian Junior Championships have been and remain an important stepping stone in the careers of many Australian basketballers. Basketball Australia conducts the following six Australian Junior Championships throughout the year, and Basketball Victoria sends representatives from Country and Metro Victoria to the U16 and U18 AJCs, and combined teams to the U20s.

The National Performance Program (NPP) assists Basketball Australia to identify athletes who are members of, or on the fringe selection of National junior teams. The NPP is coached by elite coaches also involved with, or on the fringe of National selection.
