Attendance at Breakers Try Outs is compulsory for any player that wishes to be considered for a 2019 Breakers team.
ELIGIBILITY
All players must ensure that they are eligible to try out for the Mornington Breakers, prior to registering. To find out of you are eligible, please click here.
BREAKERS “NEW PLAYER” TRY OUTS
New Player Tryouts are for any domestic player that wishes to Try Out for a Mornington Breakers representative team. New Player Try Outs include players registered in our Ground Breakers program and Breakers Development Squad. Domestic players from other Associations are welcome to attend but must read and consider the eligibility criteria before registering.
Note that New Player Try Outs sessions are closed, meaning that parents are not permitted inside the stadium prior to, during or at the conclusion of Breakers Try Outs. If your child has a medical condition this must be discussed with the General Manager at the time of registering your child.
Unregistered players WILL NOT be able to Try Out.

Breakers Try Outs are for any player that was registered and competed in the 2018 MUVJBL season as a Mornington Breaker or from any other Association. Any player that was successful in progressing from New Player Try Outs will also need to attend Breakers Try Outs.

2019 AGE GROUPS
The following age groups apply.
Under 12 – 2008 top age or 2009 bottom age
Under 14 – 2006 top age or 2007 bottom age
Under 16 – 2004 top age or 2005 bottom age
Under 18 – 2002 top age or 2003 bottom age
Under 21 – 1999 top age, 2000, 2001 bottom age
It is your responsibility to ensure that you register your child in the correct age group for Try Outs.
WHAT TO WEAR
Players will need to wear a reversible training singlet or bring a light and dark coloured singlet/t-shirt. Players will also need to bring a water bottle and appropriate sized basketball.

Please note that existing and new players that attend Try Outs and not guaranteed a position on a team. Families should be prepared for this prior to attending Try Outs. Teams will be announced on our website at a date and time to be advised following Try Outs.
FEES
If your child is offered a position on a 2019 Breakers team you will be required to register and pay your fees online in full or via instalments within 2 weeks of teams being announced. Fees are currently under review and families can expect an increase in fees.

UNIFORMS
All players selected on a Mornington Breakers teams in 2019 will need to purchase the following compulsory items, if they haven’t already:

All uniform orders will be via our new Mornington Basketball Uniform Shop. Players must try on uniforms for size in the MDBA office prior to ordering online.
TRAINING
All Breakers players are required to attend two compulsory training sessions per week. The days and times of these training sessions are set by the Club. Players are expected to commit to these training times and we do not work around individual’s other commitments including other sports in scheduling training.
PERMISSION TO TRAIN
If for whatever reason you are Trying Out for the Mornington Breakers and are currently registered with another Association you must complete and submit a signed Permission to train form or submit a signed Clearance. You must provide this signed form prior to Try Out’s. No exceptions will be permitted under any circumstance.
